Practice Areas: Worker's Compensation

Phil is a partner at Willis Spangler Starling and is the Lead Attorney in our Workers’ Compensation Practice. Phil came to WSS in 2009, shortly after being admitted to the bar. He has devoted his entire practice to helping Injured Workers navigate the complexities of the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and the Industrial Commission of Ohio.

Phil attended The Ohio State University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with honors. While in undergrad, Phil co-founded the OSU running club. Post graduation, he attended The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law. While in Law School, Phil participated in the Student Bar Association, Dispute Resolution and Youth, and the Public Interest Law Foundation. He also participated in a nationwide Negotiation competition. He obtained his J.D. in 2008.

Phil always knew that he wanted to help people and likes to think that the practice of Workers’ Compensation law chose him. This practice allows him to help people who are facing enormous difficulty by providing counseling and legal knowledge to help guide them through the system.

Phil is married and lives outside Hilliard with his wife and their two dogs. He is a runner (turned jogger) and is always attempting, rather unsuccessfully, to learn how to play golf. Phil also enjoys cheering on the Reds, Bengals and Buckeyes and tolerates the mental abuse that being a fan of those teams brings.
